Acne Scar Treatments

Subscision is a technique used to treat depressed or dimpled scars. It involves using a special blade to separate or cut the bands of deeper scar tissue and release the tethering. It creates a new scar below and as this heals, the depressed scar or dimple is elevated making the skin more even.

Punch excision/ punch elevations is another technique that helps to lift fine ice pick scars or dimpled scars. A small surgical tool is used to lift the scar to a normal level. It is performed under local anesthesia.

Laser surgery and dermabrasion are techniques that can be used to help smooth out the surface of the skin.

Chemical peels can be used to close up small dilated pores left from acne scarring.

Fillers can be injected into depressed acne scars and dimples to improve their appearance and even out the skin surface.
